Virtue Clothiers

Review by Ekor A

I needed some customized clothing made in Lagos and didn't quite know where to go. I reached out to one of my cousins who had gotten some customized materials from Virtue Clothiers, and that’s how I heard about the company. Virtue Clothiers deals with designing, producing, branding, distributing and marketing of lifestyle products for all genders and age groups. They have their own logo (pictured above), but also offer personal customization services e.g. Virtue would be able to print out bulk shirts containing your designs and even offer suggestions on how to make it better.

I really liked the look & feel of my cousins’ Virtue materials. So my sister and I gave them a try and got some items customized, which turned out great! It cost between 3-5k for t-shirts & polos, and 5-7k for sweaters. You also have the option to bring in your items for customization or use Virtue’s items (more costly option). As time went by, my friends started to notice and compliment all my “Virtue possessions” and later began to patronize their business.

Virtue Clothiers is currently working on opening stores and making their products & services available around Nigeria and outside the country. Currently, their products are available on Jumia, and during the Le Petit Marché monthly gatherings. Check out more of Virtues designs here, here and here.

I've recommended Virtue to friends and family and will continue to do so. Their product quality is up-to-par & they really work with you to ensure your customized materials meet your standards. Pricing is affordable, and staff I've dealt with are very professional and deliver promptly. Be sure to confirm delivery as they don’t deliver everywhere yet, but will work towards making your pick-up a stress-free process (a much appreciated gesture in Naija).

Excellent Customer Service Brings You Closer to Your Clients

The article you are about to read was featured on The Magellan Solutions Blog, which is a blog focused on
"actionable insights for small and medium businesses"

"There are friends. And there are really close friends.

While we don’t want to “compartmentalize” people, the reality is that we all have friends who are there, either as “fair weather” pals, acquaintances, good friends, or as the type of friends who will see you through no matter what.

Did you know that you can say the same thing about your customers? You can have clients who will simply patronize your goods and services on a “one time” deal. Then there are folks who will stand by your brand no matter what. And if you want more of the latter, you can attract such clients by dishing out stellar customer service, with the help of your customer service call center.

No, that’s not a typo—your very own contact center can help you become closer to your clients with good old personalized customer service. When we say “personalized” customer care, we mean treating them like real people with feelings right from the onset.
Answering the phone, email, Tweets, and other correspondences, is a good start. How would you feel if the inbound call center you are trying to reach to inquire about Propane grills won’t pick up? Picking up shows that you don’t want them to get irritated one bit.

Then there’s the simple act of getting their name. Not only is that an easier way for the attending contact center agents to address your clients properly, it can be the start of a lasting relationship. After all, it usually starts with knowing one’s name, right?

But probably one of the best ways your call center service team can show your sincerity in wanting to get closer to customers is by actually attending to, and resolving their concerns. When Mr. Jones calls up the customer service complaints hotline to voice out his rants about his newly purchased Propane Grill that won’t heat up, the best course of action is have a tech support call center team come over and look for the problem. If it needs to be replaced, then so be it.

In the end, it should always be about your customer care efforts being geared towards becoming closer to clients. Then can you say that you have clients for life."

Addide is a supermarket that opened shop in Lagos in 2008. They’ve grown so large that they have about 16 other branches across Lagos. Their pioneer store is the branch at Akoka, and that’s the branch I happened to visit.

The shop is quite alright but they don't have a good variety of products. For example, they didn't have as much cereal as I expected. I wanted to get Coco Crunches by Kellogs but ended up getting Milo Crunches because the only Kellogs product they had was the normal Cornflakes. Only plus is that their products are cheap, as in VERY cheap so no complaints there.

This particular location is quite small both inside and outside. The parking lot can only take 4 cars and in the end, one has to park on the road and cause traffic. The female cashier who checked me out was a bit scary. I can’t quite place my fingers on it, but she was really weird. My total was #600 and I gave a #1000 note expecting #400 change. Turns out they didn't have ANY change. Instead of the cashier to think of what else to do, she practically forced us to buy more items. We ended up spending more than we planned.

Apart from the small parking lot, the weird cashier, & the lack of change and product variety, Addide at Akoka is actually a good place to shop because of the huge difference between their prices and those of their competitors.

Review by Meme A

I heard about Wheatbaker last year. My friend lives close to the hotel and would always talk about the kinds of cars that drive in and all sorts. Fast forward to this year. April was my besties birthday and she was looking for something outdoor and different for lunch with a few friends. Coincidentally, I was at my friend’s office in Lekki and came across pictures of the pool at the Wheatbaker. The water was literally calling my name and with the heat in Nigeria, you probably understand what I mean. I quickly did some research (shout out to Google, my friend) and suggested to my bestie that we check out the Wheatbaker restaurant, The Grillroom, as a potential venue for her birthday lunch. Bestie bought my idea so we went over and the environment was really cool and serene. There isn’t ample parking though, especially considering the amount of people that visit for the food. The Grillroom also offers a daily buffet, 6900 naira per head and not inclusive of drinks.

On the said day, we all gathered by the pool area at The Grillroom (which also has a shed so the sun isn’t over your head). I had Salmon with olives as a starter, and it was fab! I really love Salmon with my whole heart as it’s tasty and very healthy for hair, skin and nails. My main course was spaghetti and some sauce I can’t remember with barbeque chicken. For dessert, we had an assortment of cakes including a creamy cheesecake. All the cakes were so creamy and nice. I so wished I could take some home. By the time we were done, we were so stuffed!

From time to time the waiters would pass by and ask if we were okay. The hospitality was excellent, and the food was wonderful. Prices are just okay. Chapman, for example, cost 2000 naira and non-alcoholic cocktails go for the same price too. I really wish I could attach pictures, but the screen of my phone got smashed and is yet to be fixed.

The Grillroom is somewhere you can go to with friends, go on a date, have a get together or if you want to just forget about the hustle of Lagos and give yourself a treat. I did enquire about the rooms though, and I must say they are quite pricey.

PS - Just incase you are looking for the Wheatbaker Hotel, it doesn’t have a big signboard or anything. It’s just a burnt red building with flying flags in the front of the building.

Remembering the Victims of Dana Flight 992

Laying a wreath at the memorial for the Dana Air crash victims.

The news spread like wildfire; chaos was on the horizon. I remember my family scrambling to figure out who we knew that may have been on the flight. We had a neighbor who was supposed to fly the doomed MD-83. We frantically called his phone and sent him blackberry messages to see if he yet drew breath. First we heard about 100 people had lost their lives. Then 153. Then an estimated 163 people, including those on ground. The toll of the Dana victims kept rising, like transportation fares. Luckily, our neighbor had decided to take a later flight. Others were not as fortunate.

I stayed awake, restless that night. I couldn’t sleep. I had been visiting Nigeria, like many others on that plane, and couldn’t help but wonder, “it could have been me”. The next morning, the comments started rolling in. “Dana has never cared about our safety”. “This is Nigeria, no value for life; anything goes”. “Dana has been a time bomb waiting to explode”. I recall having a conversation with one of my cousins who had been allowed to travel on a local flight without a functioning seatbelt. I remember thinking “Wow! That would probably never happen in Ghana or South Africa”. I started to wonder if there was an avenue for Nigerians to share these kinds of information, thus enabling people make informed decisions.

Two days after the crash, I saw myself in front of my little computer starting a blog: ReviewNaija. Prior to the crash, I had never considered blogging. I thought it a good pastime and checked out different blogs from time to time, but never imagined I’d be running one. My initial aim with ReviewNaija was to create an avenue for Nigerian residents, regardless of “class”, to share their experiences dealing with organizations in Nigeria.

To the victims of Dana air crash:

About this time last year, you all departed from this earth. You will forever be remembered by your family, friends, and loved ones. I’m sure they miss you dearly. I will also forever remember you all as the propelling force for ReviewNaija.

Continue to rest in the Lords bosom…

Review provided by Sonia

When I first tried to order from this place, I didn’t get to the checkout page. An error page kept popping up so I gave up. Two days after, a delivery guy shows up at my doorstep with the two bags. I was surprised. No call, no text, no confirmation email. He just showed up. And seeing as I didn’t think the order went through, I didn’t have that much cash on me (about 16k). So after complaining about the ambush I asked for his POS machine and he said he didn’t have one. I asked what he wanted me to do and he suggested using an ATM. I didn’t have the time for that as I was at work and I’d already had my lunch break so I told him to return the order and gave him a N500 tip seeing as it wasn’t his fault and sent him on his merry way.

I ordered the same bags again and this time, there were no hassles. I got the bags and paid even though there was still no confirmation call. The next time, I got a wallet which took FOREVER to come for whatever reason and I was the one who kept having to call to ask what was wrong; and let me just tell you know, their customer service is CRAP!!! A very rude lady picked up the phone every time and even the person on the other end of the BB (probably the same individual) showed such horrible manners and kept telling me ‘You would get your purse pliz.’ And I paid online o!

In all sha, I’d give the place a 2 and half over 5. Good quality but slightly over-priced bags, poor service and okay delivery.
PRICING: 3/5. Got some of their bags off Konga.com at a fairly large price margin.
CUSTOMER SERVICE: .0/5. Yes I actually DO mean *point zero over five*
DELIVERY TIME: 3/5. Could be better.

Review by Vizzo Z

Having been absent from Nigeria for quite a large number of years, adjusting to the heat has been something of a struggle; a problem made worse by my incessant desire to sunbathe and get darker (#innerwhitegirl). I’ve found two things have helped me keep cool, SuperYogo (God bless the person who invented such a treat) and Ice cream.

My cousins were so kind to take me to Cactus in VI to 1) bring me to my senses that we DO NOT sunbathe, 2) bond especially as I haven’t seen them in a while 3) have some ice cream in style. In my head, I imagined “In style” meant I’d somehow avoid the awkwardness of ice cream melting and dripping down the side of the cone and down your fingers. But that wasn’t the case, on the contrary – ice cream STILL melted, and still dripped on to my trousers.

However, the view outside was lovely, over -looking the water (through barriers) . It had a bouncing castle and some children play area, which I’m sure I’d have appreciated a bit more had I been 14 years younger or had children. But the fact the facility was there was rather commendable, showed the owners understood their customers. It also included lovely seating areas outside, providing a good place to hang out or in this case “bond”. Inside was nice, clean, and warm. Not much to comment on and to be honest – sometimes you just want to have your meal or ice-cream in peace. Some restaurants just over do it with their decor.

Lovely outdoor view
Bouncing Castle

Inside decor
Cross-section of ice-cream flavors

Speaking of meal, Cactus doesn't only do Ice Cream – attached is a picture of their delivery menu. I am yet to try any of their food items though...

Most of all, I have to say the service was fantastic. Nice and polite staff, who exhibited a love for the job. The cynic in me would say the reason for their “kindness” was purely because it was a New Year, and who isn’t happy when it comes to New Year?

Summary, I’d say it’s a nice place to go during the day, and have a lovely ice cream (cost #300 per scoop), enjoy the awkwardness of having to lick the side of your hands and just be merry.

Etisalat Easycliq 2013 Ad Campaign Review

Clip from ad
It’s dark and foggy. A convoy of noisy, modified rice cars comes into view.
Change shot.
A group of 20-somethings randomly carrying out a choreographed dance routine in the middle of nowhere.
Change shot.
The Ricers rev some more. Random group of white birds flies away.
Back to the dancing 20-somethings twisting their bodies.
Aerial shot.
The cars zip past, revving far too hard for the speed they are moving at. One of them has a blue light on underneath.
Change shot.

The wiggling youths are interrupted by the sound of engines being revved by drivers who have no concern about global warming. The cars surround the dancing-stage-thing which looks suspiciously arranged for a supposedly impromptu night time choreography routine.

One of the dancers takes off his backward facing cap and sizes up the new entrants. A driver reaches out of his window and delivers 2 hot slaps to the outside of his door, which seems a bit unfair to the car all things considered.

The cars eventually come to a halt in a display of squealing rubber and toxic fumes. The drivers disembark. A synth-driven soundtrack starts up as a short Mexican standoff ensues. A man from each camp seems to have arbitrarily appointed himself leader. Where’s the democracy in that? The two dictators stand eyeball to eyeball for a few seconds as the synth-pop soundtrack builds up.

Panoramic Neo-Matrix shot of both camps standing behind their self-appointed leaders.

One of the drivers, whom we will now refer to as Group B suddenly motions to a conveniently located DJ’s booth up in a scaffolding nearby. Someone from Group B has miraculously got himself up there and takes over from Group A’s DJ. So many Health & Safety violations here.

Shoulder shot of someone from Group B steadying himself with a rather weird expression on his face.

A green USB drive is plugged into the sound system.

Silence.

DJ’s finger hits the ‘play’ button.
Rhythmic thrusting, twisting and turning ensues as the lyrics come in over the instrumental.
#I’m feeling kinda cooool
#So you can get down with my Easy Cliq
#Can’t you see my cliq is cooler than yours
#It’s cooler than…
#Ma cliq is cooler than yours

“Make calls at 10k/second” flashes up during a shot of someone doing a head spin. [#Ma cliq is cooler than yours]
“Bonus on incoming calls” as someone does several full body twists with his hands.[#Cooler than yours]
“Free browsing up to 90mb” as he continues with his twists. [#Ma cliq is cooler than yours]

Reverse somersault. DJ makes shushing gesture at Group A.
Car headlights randomly go off.
Panoramic shot of Group A walking away victoriously. They all suddenly turn and open their jackets to reveal T-shirts inscribed with the lyrics “My cliq is cooler than yours”.
An invisible football crowd yells at the sight of this as though a goal has been scored.
Then the coup de grace: “easycliq ® the biggest cliq in 9ja”
ETISALAT. NOW YOU’RE TALKING.

Nigerian advertising is by no means a stranger to corny, cheesy, out of date and clichéd publicity campaigns. Our radio and television airwaves are still saturated with adverts which use terms toe-curling terms like “Ogbonge” and “Kampe” to push mediocre products. A mediocre product deserves mediocre publicity.
When however, the product on offer is actually better than average, it is so disappointing to see it devalued by this train wreck of an ad campaign (think Step Up 2 meets Bad Boys II meets Tokyo Drift).

There are people somewhere, who sat down in a room and decided “You know what? I think we need to target the youth demographic. We need to appear ‘hip’ and ‘cool’ and use words like ‘cliq’ and then they will pour in.” Indeed, the facebook page of Etisalat, with no irony whatsoever proudly declares:
“NOT JUST A NETWORK...ITS AN ATTITUDE!! The Etisalat brand represents a company that is youthful, dynamic and innovative. We deliver good quality service and value in everything we do. We are unique and have a difference that is not replicable…Also known as the 0809ja network, (*stifles laugh*) Etisalat is Nigeria's latest telecoms provider. Beginning operations on 23 October 2008, Etisalat has to date entrenched itself in the hearts and minds of all Nigerians as the network of choice.”
It even provides a visual aid to this display of sheer butt-clenching cringe:

This lack of self-awareness is a source of everlasting comedy for us, but should be a cause for concern for Etisalat. Obviously, they are not keeping their ears close enough to the ground, and we all know what happens to businesses which do not monitor or react effectively to developments. There is nothing wrong with targeting the youth demographic, in fact they should be doing just that in a country where the median age is 18. However, to do this requires real market research and contact with real 21st century Nigerian youths, not listening to marketing recommendations from middle aged men going through mid-life crises, still trying to rediscover their long-lost youth.

It smacks too much of trying to be “down wit da yoofs innit” and it is patronising in the extreme. Whoever thought that targeting the youth is done by stuffing everything remotely “urban” (modified Japanese “rice” cars, massive sound system, choreographed dance routine, sideways facing caps and graffiti) into one minute and 27 seconds was right, it does appeal to youths – 12 year-old youths! I pity the 38 year old man with a bald patch who was saddled with the responsibility of thinking up a way to appeal to those half his age.

However, the very simple solution would have been to conduct real market research and determine what Nigerian youths really want. First of all, we want QUALITY. Give us a genuinely superior product and you will not even need to advertise. We will use our word of mouth on your behalf more effectively than any multimillion Naira campaign could ever do. We also want PRICE ADVANTAGES because for the most part, we have not yet started earning money and as such are not very liquid. Do these things, instead of embarrassing yourselves by trying to seem cool by using terms like ‘9ja’ and ‘Cliq’. (Who the hell uses the word “clique” in normal everyday conversation?)

Finally, understand that everyone gets old. You cannot stay young, or in the know forever. At 23, I myself am aware than in a few years, I will be completely out of the loop with regards to what is ‘hot on the streets’. I’m already out of date with the latest slang and terminology. This is natural and everyone has to go through it. You cannot reverse this cycle. You just have to accept that youth is a magical time which lasts for all of 5 minutes and then you’re 40, with a nagging wife, 2 adolescent kids who talk back and a million broken dreams. That is life. Please stop trying to base your business model on being ‘hip’ or relevant on the streets. Fads will come and go. A quality product however, will stand the test of time. If you continue trying to Peter Pan your way out of this challenge, you will end up like Randy Marsh in the South Park episode, You’re Getting Old.

A WORD, ETISALAT, IS ENOUGH FOR THE WISE.

Sooooooo, one of the really cool things about owning a blog is that one can post almost WHATEVER they deem fit regardless of its relevance to the message/theme of the site. *yipee*

In this case, however, this video kind of relates to the theme of "ReviewNaija"and I'd love for you, you and you to watch it. WARNING: It's about 2.5 hours long, but well worth it. Time will fly by sef and you won't even know it's been that long (believe me).

I think for us to go forward as a country, we need to have an idea of where we've come from AND avoid making the same mistakes. I see no wisdom in making the same mistakes over and over again so please let us educate ourselves a little.. my final plug for the video.  Watch and be enlightened.  Then rate it below + share with your friends. Oh and then send in a review of any Nigerian organization of your choice just because or to enter the reviewnaija bbz10 contest! Then I'd love you forever!! Easy steps to win my love :D

Review by Sandra G

I was recently involved in an accident which ended up ruining my phone. We all know that communication matters in this current century so I had to reconnect with the world and get a new phone ASAP. I'd heard a lot about Slot; expensive merchandise, original products, brand variety including blackberry (although out of stock most times) , Samsung , Nokia , LG, HTC, Apple, etc. So I decided I'll try them out and get a not so expensive phone in the meantime (I mean it's better than nothing).

The interior of the Slot Unilag branch is quite spacious. It is colorful and definitely set-up in a way that makes you want to just buy something (even if you don't need it). They have a lot of display boards so it's really cool that you get to play around with your choice before actually purchasing. Customer service is quite mediocre; some staff members are friendly while others are downright awful. While I was there, I saw the "phone-tester" guy (his job is pretty much to test your phone and make sure it's working before you can leave with it) frowning, snatching items and literally throwing them back at the customers. I'm not sure that's acceptable behavior but I'll let you all be the judge of that.

In my experience, their prices are quite okay and all phones come with a warranty. I mentioned that they hardly have blackberry phones in stock, right? Well, that's a story for another day...

Review by Oladunni O.

I am THAT online shopper. Don't look at me like that, it can't be helped :D. I've visited so many online stores that I've lost count. Window shopping is usually my best forte though. If I spent money every time I went online.....

So I've shopped on Jumia,Taafoo, Shopaholicng, & Brandnubians, to mention a few. Shopping on Jumia is so far my best so I'm going to base my review on it.

You're probably wondering why Jumia's my best...

1) It opened me up to online shopping
2) The shopping was so easy and convenient; their website is easily accessible on mobile phones too
3) Advertised quick delivery: 3-5 business days (now I've learned this isn't always the case)
4) Competitive prices

My first experience went thus: I logged on to the website, created a profile, searched and searched (this not been helped by the quality of network service in Nigeria), found the perfect dress, decided to buy it after weighing the pros and cons and getting the opinion of my friends, chose the pay on delivery option, completed my purchase and signed off.

I felt good with myself. I was buying something online! Although, along with my joy came uncertainty but thankfully they couldn't run away with my money... I hadn't paid! *smart me* The dress cost #8,000. #8,000!! It was a birthday present to myself.

Then came time for delivery *sigh* The dress came in 8 days after it was scheduled to arrive. I was livid! I mean, who does that? As expected, their representative was full of apologies when I called to complain. Typical Nigerian. Oh well. That didn't stop me from going back to Jumia.

The consequent purchases were easier thank God:

My 2nd purchase was 3 tops ( for myself, my mum and my sister). By the way, I'm a nice person if I may say so myself. The tops cost N4000, N4500 and N3500 respectively.

My 3rd purchase was a Daggett and Ramsdell body lotion which cost N1,200. The delivery came on time and I used the POS machine :D

My last so far purchase was an HP back to school laptop bundle which cost #81,195. The bundle consisted of an HP 655 AMD Dual core laptop, a desk jet printer, an HP notebook carry case and Life earphones. Pretty good buy!!!

I can say I've spent a great deal of my money on Jumia and its all been worth it. My dad is still pretty skeptical about the whole online shopping business but I'm winning him over gradually.

For online shoppers who want convenience, quality and efficiency, Jumia is your guy (I'm a great advertiser too) :D

Review provided by Meme A.

Once in a while my two besties and I would look for a place to go eat and just gist especially during the weekends. This particular day we were going to go to Bottles (click for review), when we passed by Radisson Blu. One of my friends suggested we check it out, so we did.

We got in and went up to the Voyage Restaurant which was already closed so we were directed to the bar outside. It was really sunny and the good seats were taken. So we wore our shades and sat under an umbrella that wasn’t doing anything useful. Just as an FYI, surface bar is best visited at night when the sun is down and the weather is cool.

Beautiful decor in front of voyage restaurant:

I ordered a burger and Chapman and my friends had sandwiches. Both meals came with French fries. Once my meal arrived, I wondered how I was going to finish it. I quickly asked for a take-away plate and took the burger home. The burger was really dry, I ended up giving it to my niece and nephew. The French fries were just okay; not too crispy, not too oily. The Chapman was just okay; lots of sugar for me I must say. My friends were kind of disappointed, and so was I. Then I remembered my first experience in Surface Bar. The suya that night was horrible but the chicken was really soft and spicy.

I feel Surface Bar standards have dropped which isn’t good for any business. I'd say the atmosphere is only good for drinks with the boys/hang and gossip with your girls. Nothing more, nothing less.

It was a beautiful Sunday evening and I was just returning from Asaba. I had just taken out my twists and needed to get my natural hair washed. I live in Lekki and didn’t want to leave the estate. Except rip-offsPride & Joy, which I’ve vowed to never visit again, I didn’t know of any other salons around (#lekkinewbie). My sister recommended Bobby’s Signature, and let me just say, it was definitely an experience that exceeded my non-existent expectations.

I located Bobby’s via my sister’s directions. “Make a left at tantalizers, then keep going to the end of the street as it turns slightly right. Bobby’s/Mud should be on your left.” Trust that I drove past the location at first but was re-directed back to the building.

I got to Bobby’s around 6:50pm and rushed up, as I was a bit alarmed they’d have closed. I climbed the 1st flight of stairs and came across a nail studio. In my frantic state, I woke the sleeping attendant up, and he kindly informed me to go upstairs. I embarked on the next flight and came across the salon. I quickly rushed in and announced that I needed to wash my natural hair, straighten it and get a pedicure. They said “Sure’. “What time do you guys close”, I asked. “7pm”, they replied, “but we will take you”. You can imagine the joy in my heart!

Being that it was around closing time Bobby’s wasn’t too packed and I didn’t have to wait around. As soon as I sat down, 3 stylists descended on my hair and began to untie the overly tangled mess I had made. I had tried explaining that natural hair is easier to deal with when wet, but they insisted on detangling before washing. It actually didn’t hurt much so I let them go on. It took them about 10minutes, and then one of them, Segun, washed my hair.

Segun is a darling! I don’t think I’ve ever received the kind of service he provided in Nigeria, and I definitely let his Manager know. Not only did Segun know what he was doing, but he also (subtly) made sure that I understood that he knew what he was doing. He made small talk throughout the process and would periodically ask if it hurt, or if the water temperature was still ok, etc. I inquired about their store(s)/services and he was able to answer my questions intelligently. I also got a pedicure and it was great! It was very neat and my feet looked and felt so fresh. Warning though, this location doesn’t have an assortment of nail polish colors so you might be better off bringing your nail polish if you like more exotic/brighter colors.

Best part of this all; hair cost 2k to wash plus 1k treatment, and pedicure 2k5 plus 200 for cuticle remover, 2k7. Now this might sound like a lot, but considering the kind of extortion that goes on in Lekki, I thought this was great and the service was above par.

I’d definitely recommend Bobby’s in Lekki and re-visit over and over again. :)

Bobby's price list boldly displayed inside the store...

Review by Victor A

Hi. I am Victor, and I am here to review an e-commerce site with a unique business model. Please stick with me for a while.

Their slogan reads “Affordable Excitement”, and they seem pretty much committed to the task, especially where cars and phones are concerned.

You may wonder what QuickSell does, and why I have given them a 5-star rating. Basically they only put up the most affordable stuff online. So, all you see on QuickSell are discounted items. As a matter of fact, you CANNOT post stuff on QuickSell until you take a percentage off. The site appeals to both merchants (sellers) and buyers, as there is a separate registration form for each of them.

My experience: I had a phone to sell. Fairly used, so I sold it cheaper than the usual price. On QuickSell, you have to specify the discount percentage you want to sell your product for. I think I specified 5%. I got a number of prospective buyers, but I eventually sold to someone close to where I live - which is in Ajah area. The duration of selling off whatever you want to sell on QuickSell depends on two things. One, how much of a hotcake what you are trying to sell is. Two, the discount percentage you have pegged. They also run banner advertisements, but you have to contact them directly and pay a token, to have your products featured, which should sell for you faster. I checked out their forum section. It is just kicking off, and I commented there once or twice, but I believe that when the forum revs up, people can post their stuff on QuickSell and come to the forum to hype it and get people to notice it more without having to pay for the banner adverts. That is what I would do anyway.

Admittedly, QuickSell is still in its early stages. Baby steps, I say, but their business model seems sound, and they look genuinely consumer-focused and interested in satisfying their users. Every product on the site has a rating system, so if it is crap, you can just write on there that it is crap.

The site is professionally done, IMHO (in my honest opinion),  with a news slider bringing you interesting shopping news and happenings, and it is pretty easy to navigate to the forum and back again. There are also products from a number of other online retailers – Jumia, Konga, Royal Peridot, Taafoo, etc

QuickSell site

Will I use QuickSell again? YES! Once I have stuff I need to sell quickly. LOL. That is their name afterall: Quick Sell.

So, I dunno. Maybe you should check out the site, if you like it like I did, you can come back and comment here. If you didn't, well, you can also leave your comment here.

Rhapsody's Website: "The concept for Rhapsody’s VI was born from the success which the Rhapsody’s Group has experienced in Ghana and Lusaka. Rhapsody’s VI definitely follows traditional Rhapsody’s décor. The use of muted rusts, orange and creams together with solid timber and gold graphics results in an interior which elegant, vibrant and stylish."

Review by Tobi O.

The high time of my month is usually during MPR for the obvious reason of free food, and that’s exactly what brought me to Rhapsody's this fateful Sunday. Except that this time, I was sponsoring the celebration.

Rhapsody VI is very easy to locate since its off Adeola Odeku. The exterior signage is lovely and there's parking space for up to 40 cars. Since it was our first time, we couldn’t easily locate the entrance. We went into Albert first, came out, and then entered Rhapsody's. The interior decor is lovely. First thing you see is the bar to your left, fully stocked with an array of drinks for avid drinkers. One of the attendants (Romeo) walked up to us with a huge smile on his face, bowed, and asked where we'd prefer to seat (you seat according to what you want to do; drink only, drink and eat or just the vip section). We were ushered to a "drink and eat" section booth by Romeo, and he took our orders. I chose the rhapsody platter and death by chocolate. For drinks we got bottled Star and shots of patron(1600/shot).

Interior of Rhapsody's VI from our booth
While waiting for the food, we kept ourselves busy by ogling at a couple of girls on the other side of the room. They all had Iphone 5s and seemed like working class/ms-independent kind of ladies, so my friends and I decided that it wasn't a good idea to send drinks over (especially if we didn’t want to go home broke). Instead we decided to enjoy Rhapsody's free wifi, which is a lovely idea by the way. Who doesn’t like free stuff?

Our simple order took forever! Or maybe I was too hungry so the time went by really slow? Regardless, it did't seem like they had too many customers so I expected the food would come out faster. Anyway, the platter arrived, and I must confess, it was worth every minute of the wait. It consisted of onion rings, shrimps, fried chicken (coated in flour), and plenty ijekuje that I can't name. Plus three different dipping sauces. We couldn’t finish the food, and decided to invite a friend who lives nearby to come and eat.

Rhapsody's Platter

I spent less than 10k in total during my visit. 5k for the main food (good value for my money considering the quality&quantity) and 4k for drinks and dessert. On our way out, one of the managers (white dude) came over to thank us for our patronage.. that for me was good customer service and appreciation.

Generally it was a lovely time, good environment, good customer service and superb food. I’m surely going there again soon with the missus *lovestruck face*.

PS please drop a comment and share my review with your friends. I would appreciate it and owe you one :)
