It was a beautiful Sunday evening and I was just returning from Asaba. I had just taken out my twists and needed to get my natural hair washed. I live in Lekki and didn’t want to leave the estate. Except
I located Bobby’s via my sister’s directions. “Make a left at tantalizers, then keep going to the end of the street as it turns slightly right. Bobby’s/Mud should be on your left.” Trust that I drove past the location at first but was re-directed back to the building.
I got to Bobby’s around 6:50pm and rushed up, as I was a bit alarmed they’d have closed. I climbed the 1st flight of stairs and came across a nail studio. In my frantic state, I woke the sleeping attendant up, and he kindly informed me to go upstairs. I embarked on the next flight and came across the salon. I quickly rushed in and announced that I needed to wash my natural hair, straighten it and get a pedicure. They said “Sure’. “What time do you guys close”, I asked. “7pm”, they replied, “but we will take you”. You can imagine the joy in my heart!

Being that it was around closing time Bobby’s wasn’t too packed and I didn’t have to wait around. As soon as I sat down, 3 stylists descended on my hair and began to untie the overly tangled mess I had made. I had tried explaining that natural hair is easier to deal with when wet, but they insisted on detangling before washing. It actually didn’t hurt much so I let them go on. It took them about 10minutes, and then one of them, Segun, washed my hair.
Segun is a darling! I don’t think I’ve ever received the kind of service he provided in Nigeria, and I definitely let his Manager know. Not only did Segun know what he was doing, but he also (subtly) made sure that I understood that he knew what he was doing. He made small talk throughout the process and would periodically ask if it hurt, or if the water temperature was still ok, etc. I inquired about their store(s)/services and he was able to answer my questions intelligently. I also got a pedicure and it was great! It was very neat and my feet looked and felt so fresh. Warning though, this location doesn’t have an assortment of nail polish colors so you might be better off bringing your nail polish if you like more exotic/brighter colors.
Best part of this all; hair cost 2k to wash plus 1k treatment, and pedicure 2k5 plus 200 for cuticle remover, 2k7. Now this might sound like a lot, but considering the kind of extortion that goes on in Lekki, I thought this was great and the service was above par.
I’d definitely recommend Bobby’s in Lekki and re-visit over and over again. :)
