My friends and I wanted to meet up for a quick lunch – and they mentioned a café spot in Victoria Island, Bistro 7, not too far from Mega Plaza.

Food: I have most definitely found a new favorite spot in Lagos! This is my ideal kinda place for a nice, relaxing meal. We ordered our drinks – lattes and a frappuccino. My latte was bleh, but my friend’s frappuccino was wonderful – it’s what I’d order next time. For lunch, my friends ordered club sandwiches while I ordered a Grilled Chicken Pesto sandwich that was divinely yum! I’d never tried pesto before then, and I’m now a convert. The sandwiches came with fries (Yay) and coleslaw (Boo). I’d like to come back and try the dessert menu – there’s a chocolate cookie/ice cream dessert, and some crepes I’m really interested in trying out :)

Ambiance/Décor: First things first, I love the fact that the café/restaurant is in a secluded, gated compound. When you drive in, you notice a little dining set-up in the garden for those willing to brave the Nigerian heat. The café/restaurant itself is beautifully decorated. The café separated from the restaurant by glass windows reminds me of Starbucks. The restaurant has a cozy, light, airy feel. Note that we went in the afternoon, so it was quiet. I’d like to check it out at night and see if it’s more bustling during that period. Tip: check out the Ladies/Gentlemen restrooms – sooo pretty (I ventured into the Ladies only o). I especially liked the restroom signs, which I felt weird taking pictures of.

Service: Here’s where I had an issue. While our waiter and others around were courteous and respectful, our waiter didn’t pay a lot of attention to us, and to top it off, whispered in my friend’s ear for us to leave a separate tip for him and slide under the table mat! While my friend intended on tipping the waiter, his asking for it was a big No-No and left a bitter taste in our mouths.

Overall Value: The café items (cupcakes, pastries, coffee drinks) were a tad pricier than I’m used to. Our sandwiches cost about N2500 each. The entrees on the restaurant menu were about N3500+.
